What is FOLKS?

FOLKS stands for ‘Friends of Local Kirana Stores’. This is a GullyBuy initiated community of volunteers who are keen to help their local grocery and other stores come online to provide mobile-based shopping convenience to their buyers.

We have developed a contactless and hassle-free shopping app. Buyers can now order online from any local kirana store, fruits and vegetable vendor, home entrepreneur and others. The stores too get an app that is easy to use and can be set up in a few minutes. It requires no extra work such as inventory upload, or product price update, etc.

FOLKS consists of well-wishers of GullyBuy who see value in guiding their small local stores into the digital world with a small effort on their part, thereby improving the shopping experience for themselves and their neighbours. This is becoming critical in today’s situation, and it will also have a huge long-term positive impact on a group (corner stores) that has been underserved by today’s digital economy.

Why join the FOLKS initiative?

At a time when the whole world is fighting against the crisis, this is an initiative that will help us and our country to Avoid Panic Buying, and Encourage Contactless/Safe buying of groceries and daily essentials from our local kirana and multipurpose stores.

Maintain Social Distancing

Prepare and send your order in a simple list format to your local kirana store from your home. No need to go out of your home to buy daily essentials, groceries, fruits, and vegetables.

Make sure your parcels are less exposed to contamination

Parcels from online eCommerce portals come in large boxes handled by a number of people due to long supply chains, hence more prone to contamination. With GullyBuy, your parcel/items come directly from your local store.

Encourage your local stores in today’s difficult times

Most of us have a trusted relationship with the local kiranawalas. Now is the time to support them. You get multiple benefits: no problem with curfew, quick delivery, no ugly boxes to open, and safe delivery by the regular store person. You can alert the store for any extra precautions that you want them to take.

Stop panic buying

Groceries continue to be open. With GullyBuy, you get a contactless, hassle-free communication channel with your local stores so you can keep buying your daily essentials in a safe and hassle-free manner.

What you need to do?

Talk to your regular/known kirana store/s about the app. Help him load the app, and start sending orders to him on the app.
